Moringa City Story
Joshua Haruna started selling moringa eight years ago, after a dream led him and his wife to unusual seeds from northern Ghana. That first purchase was just 3kg, bought for less than a dollar a kilo. It grew from there.
In 2021, that early spark became Moringa City, Ghana’s first commercial hub for the full moringa value chain. Today, we move around 10,000kg of moringa seeds and 5,000kg of powder each year, and we’ve mentored over 153 people across Africa, working alongside 15 out-growers in Ghana and 17 partner organisations across the continent.
Founders
Joshua Haruna
Joshua Haruna is the Ghanaian agripreneur behind Africa Moringa Hub and Moringa City, founded in 2021 as Ghana’s first commercial hub for the full moringa value chain. Since 2016, he’s championed sustainable agriculture across Africa, training farmers, particularly youth and women, in organic growing and value-added products.
Joyce Owusu Harunah
Joyce Owusu Harunah is a herbalist and educator, and serves as Co-Founder and Manager of Moringa City. She named the brand and its guiding principle, Beauty in Moringa, and oversees the entire value chain, from formulation and quality control to the best-selling Moringa City Ointment she developed herself.
